Mandala House Update 3

With the completion of the Mandala House contruction project, residents are poised to move in following a joyous ‘inauguration’ ceremony. Fundraising however, has fallen short of our £100,000 target.

“For those present, it symbolized more than a new beginning—it was a testament to the power of compassion and collaboration. The Mandala House stands as a reminder that everyone deserves a space where they are valued and supported to live with dignity.”

Having worked tirelessly through the monsoon season to complete finishing touches, the contruction and advisory team in Nepal have completed the building of Mandala House in an impressive timescale.

Earlier this month, supporter and UK-based engineering advisor David Rivers, along with his son Charlie, visited the project to attend the ‘Inauguration Day’ at which the house was blessed by a local priest. The day was attended by municipality officials (including the Ward Chair of Gokarneshwor Municipality) and our Nepali project team, as well as Hope Centre neighbours, local social workers and some of the older children of the Hope Centre. David and Charlie were on hand to plant a commemorative tree in the grounds of the house and join in with the proceedings.

Tilak Shrestha (House Manager of the Hope Centre) said of the occassion:

“The inauguration of Mandala House was a deeply inspiring and emotional event. It wasn’t just about opening a building; it was about creating a sanctuary of hope and inclusion for the disabled community. The atmosphere was filled with joy and a sense of unity as attendees witnessed a dream come true.

For those present, it symbolized more than a new beginning—it was a testament to the power of compassion and collaboration. The Mandala House stands as a reminder that everyone deserves a space where they are valued and supported to live with dignity.

Many visitors expressed their happiness about the Mandala House and shared their hopes that it would bring meaningful benefits to the disabled community, providing them with greater access and improving their quality of life. Truly, it was a memorable day for all involved.

We deeply miss our dearest New Futures Nepal trustees and supporters. Your presence is truly felt in spirit, and we eagerly look forward to seeing you again in 2025!”

WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP!!

Despite our best efforts, although the Mandala House project nears completion, our fundraising remains short of project costs by £47,000. This shortfall is likely to have a significant impact on our charitable activities for a period of time. We are therefore making a plea to you today to continue to contribute to the funding of this project.

Mandala House at night added some extra magic to this year’s Diwali celebrations.
